The History of Blooms
Julie Browne started her journey with flowers at the age of 16, working for a florist in southern California. In 1985, at just twenty years old, she opened her first flower shop in Corona Del Mar, California. Blooms thrived for the twenty years Julie ran it and, under the care of her brother and sister-in-law, still flourishes today. Although small, the original Blooms became the largest cut flower business in Orange County, California. In addition, Julie had shops in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, California.
Julie’s mother grew up in Burley, Idaho and in 2003 Julie and her family made the decision to return to her Idaho roots. Taking time to focus on raising her children, Julie stepped away from the business world during her first years in Boise. She started creating pottery, which is now available in Blooms Flower Studio.
In 2010 she opened Botanica in Eagle, Idaho, which she ran for two years and on February 10, 2012 she opened Blooms Flower Studio in Boise’s Historic North End.
Over the years Blooms has become a family affair. Julie’s four children all have memories of growing up amongst flowers. The girls, Hannah and Greer, have both played a role in the shop’s success over the years and the boys, Ben and Trever, can often be spotted delivering your flowers throughout the Treasure Valley. Even Miriam, Bloom’s lead designer and wedding consultant, is part of the family. She and Julie’s son, Ben, have been dating for the past 2 years!
A Unique Flower Experience
Julie saw potential in an unlikely venue. Blooms sprouts from an old gas station and repair shop on the corner of State and 13th. During the warm months the garage doors are open creating an open-air market atmosphere. In this inspired studio Julie is very selective of the types and quality of the flowers that pass through. She hand-selects each flower every morning. You won’t find baby’s breath or carnations here, but you will find handmade pottery, candles, and beautiful floral creations.
Julie’s drive rests on her love of flowers and desire to bring happiness to others. With the help of her “Blooms Girls”, she continues run a successful business that is known for friendly and genuine customer service, affordability, and spreading joy to the residents of the Treasure Valley.
